1 Recipe

1. Basic Bread

adapted from the french recipe in the bread machine manual.

Makes three loaves if your pans are 3.5 × 7.5, and 2.5 inches tall.

ingredients & method (double batch)

  • 3 C warm water
  • 2 T butter
  • 2 T olive oil
  • 3 T sugar
  • 2.5 tsp yeast
  • 2 C flour

let this bubble for a while

  • 6 C flour
  • 1 T salt
  1. stir, knead, let rise
  2. punch down, let rise
  3. make into loaves, let rise
  4. bake at 400 for 25-50 minutes, depending on the size of the loaves. Throw a cup of water into the oven at the beginning (use a pan, silly!)
